6 Teacher Speak
If you want students to speak, you need to give them oral and aural homework. Here are some things you can say:
1. Why don't you watch a film and bring one new expression that you learn to class?
2. You could listen to a song and sing a line to us next lesson. (don't force students to do this!)
3. You should do your homework with a friend.
4. Please memorise a dialogue from the textbook, and perform it next lesson, with a partner.
5. What about watching a pop video and describing it to the class? What he/she was wearing/doing, etc.
(Can you think of any other oral/aural homework you could give? See ideas in the Key)

icone_listen.gif - 1470 Bytes7 Respond to these statements by making suggestions and giving advice. Listen and compare with the Key.
Example: I'm feeling sick. Would you like to lie down?
1. I've got a headache.
2. I've got an upset stomach.
3. I've got a toothache.
4. I haven't got a pen.
5. I can't see the board.
6. I'm really hot.

8 Update your Portfolio. Talk about the oral homework options in #6. Which ones do, could or couldn't you use and why (not)? Record your answers onto your Portfolio cassette.
