Numbers, days, months, dates and seasons

In Section C of every Unit you learn vocabulary through a picture dictionary. You also practise word stress, prepositions, spelling and speaking.

Professional Tip

. Do this consistently in class so students can do the same in their notebooks. This really helps with pronunciation, and gives them an excellent record of your classes to study from.
. In this course, the stress is marked for you in blue on all the poly-syllabic words in the Vocabulary builders (because so many blobs would look very strange!). But use blobs on the board. They're quick, accurate and easy to copy.

0 = 'oh'

Writing the date
March 1st or 1st March
01/03 = 03/01 (US)

Pronunciation tip
Notice the -teen endings are always stressed except when you say the words as a list:
Thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen ...

Study Tip

. To really practise listening, try to answer the questions in exercises like this without reading them.
. Pause the CD to give you time to answer, then play the next question, etc.
