Notice how the S ending seems to jump into the next word. So, 'house in' becomes /hau/ /sin/. Point this out to students. It can help them to understand better.
2B.14 The Present Simple is used for facts. The Present Continuous is used for activities in progress/happening right now (You're reading this text) or larger unfinished actions also in progress but not at the specific second we speak (I'm learning to drive). It's main uses are: 1) to describe what's happening around you, especially on mobile phones: I'm driving down London Road . 2) to talk about future arrangements: I'm staying in tonight. The + form of the Present Continuous is exactly the same in Portuguese. Subject (He) + Present Tense of 'be' (is) + the -ing form of the verb (studying) For ? and - forms remember the word order: Is(n't) he studying? Yes, he is. / No, he isn't studying.
