Held in Rio de Janeiro on November 21 and 22, 2016, the International Conference Museums, What For? debated issues that challenge and strengthen museums and shared experiences between Brazil, England, Scotland, Chile, Colombia and Italy.
There were about 400 participants from 9 countries, 14 Brazilian states gathered from public and private museums, authorities around the role of the museum in today's society. The meeting also celebrated the four-year achievements of the Transform Museum Program, which took place from 2012 to 2016.
The International Museums Conference Museums, What For? was organised by the British Council and the Museum of Tomorrow, in partnership with the Museum of Art of Rio - MAR and sponsored by BNDES.
