AfroEstima Salvador is an initiative by the Municipal Government of Salvador, carried out through the Department of Culture and Tourism (Secult) and the Department of Reparations (Semur), focused on promoting Afro-entrepreneurship and strengthening the city’s creative economy. The project offers free and accessible training to Black entrepreneurs working in areas such as tourism, culture, gastronomy, fashion, natural cosmetics, crafts, and African-based religiosity.
Since its launch, nearly 2,000 Afro-entrepreneurs have been certified in the capital of Bahia. In 2024 alone, two training cycles held in partnership with the British Council reached over 600 participants, expanding access to knowledge in fields such as business management, digital marketing, financial sustainability, Afro-Brazilian culture, female leadership, and personal development.
In 2025, the partnership between the British Council and the Salvador City Hall continues with a new edition of the program, aiming to train more than 500 creative Afro-entrepreneurs in the city. Courses remain hybrid (online and in-person), with activities held in Salvador’s Historic Center. Content is delivered by specialists, local cultural masters, and guest mentors.
Beyond technical training, AfroEstima Salvador helps strengthen support networks and affirm Afro-descendant identity, promoting economic, social, and cultural inclusion. The initiative is part of broader efforts toward historical reparations and the affirmation of Black heritage, positioning Salvador as a national reference in Afro-tourism and Afro-entrepreneurship.
