The United Kingdom’s presence at the 30th São Paulo LGBT+ Pride Parade reinforces the British Council’s commitment to diversity, human rights and cultural exchange. This is the largest LGBTQIA+ Pride event in the world, bringing together 4 million people in a vibrant celebration of equality and democracy.

Rhys’ Pieces (England) is a multifaceted queer artist, performing as a drag DJ, rapper, cabaret producer and burlesque artist. With over a decade of experience and international recognition, their performances explore themes of gender, sexuality, identity and race, always combining political engagement with entertainment.
Rhys is a regular presence at Pride in London, a month-long festival culminating in a major parade in July, which gathers more than 1.5 million people in the city. The event is a global reference for combining celebration with political mobilisation, featuring free performances in Trafalgar Square and cultural activities across Soho.
Rusty Hinges (Northern Ireland) is a drag queen established in the UK and Irish scene for over 16 years. Known for versatility, Rusty performs as DJ, singer and lip sync artist, bringing humour, energy and sophistication to every show.
Rusty is a central figure at the Belfast Pride Festival, which runs for 10 days and includes more than 150 events, culminating in the main parade, regarded as the largest cross-community march in the city. The festival blends protest and celebration, promoting equality and solidarity in Belfast and beyond.
Dr Bev (Wales) is one of the most respected artists in the Welsh drag scene, with nearly three decades of experience. In addition to being a DJ, she is an activist and mentor to new generations, having participated in every edition of Pride Cymru since its inception. She is a patron of the organisation and plays a key role in tackling stigma around HIV and supporting LGBTQIA+ youth in vulnerable housing situations.
Pride Cymru, held in Cardiff, is the largest annual LGBTQIA+ festival in Wales, led by volunteers and recognised as the country’s main Pride event. Its programme includes a parade, live music, cabaret and community stalls, celebrating equality and diversity.
Dorian T. Fisk (Scotland) is an award-winning genderqueer drag king, renowned for highly elaborate and high-quality performances. Since 2018, Dorian has also worked to train new artists and leads the Scottish collective Shut Up & King, which strengthens the drag king scene through workshops, mentoring and shows. Dorian has performed at Oban Pride on several occasions and has been recognised by The Guardian as one of the UK’s most inspiring drag kings.
Oban Pride organises a series of events throughout the year in the Argyll & Bute region, culminating in a celebratory weekend in August with a parade, arts and crafts fair, youth activities and live music. It is a safe and inclusive space that values diversity and equal rights in Scotland.
Pride and Cultural Exchange
During São Paulo Pride Week, these artists will perform iconic hits from 1980s and 1990s pop and dance music at various events, most notably on Trio Elétrico 10 during the Pride Parade on Sunday, 7 June.
