Giving young creatives the chance to take their talent international

At a time of deepening cultural exchange between Brazil and the United Kingdom, there is a growing opportunity to foster meaningful artistic collaboration that connects emerging voices. Building on shared creative energy and a commitment to innovation, this initiative seeks to strengthen long-term partnerships between the two countries by supporting the next generation of artists. Through collaborative practice, knowledge exchange, and public engagement, it aims to create a dynamic space where new ideas can flourish, cultural dialogue can expand, and lasting professional networks can take root.

The Emerging Artist Fund is thought to support this links and develop emerging artists from both countries, aged 18–35, contributing to a forward-looking and sustained cultural connection between the UK and Brazil, creating lasting pathways for emerging talent.

Rooted in the British Council’s commitment to building capacities and opportunities for young people to thrive, we are aiming to offer a space to experiment, collaborate and grow with the support of experienced professionals.  Creating pathways for artists to develop and present their work in diverse contexts and enabling them to gain practical experience and visibility. Through tailored support and enhanced collaboration, participants will be able to explore, expand their networks and grow  within the creative sector.

Expectation is that the fund will be operated through organisations, selecting emerging creatives across different artforms and embedding the initiative within sector ecosystems. The fund moves beyond traditional delivery by reinforcing institutional partnerships and enabling sustained collaboration between the UK and Brazil

A key aim for this Season of Culture legacy is amplifying platforms for showcasing artistic excellence and catalysing the next generation of talents.
