The British Council's Going Global Partnerships programme supports higher education institutions, research organisations, and other actors across the education ecosystem worldwide to develop stronger, more inclusive, and sustainable international partnerships. In Brazil, the programme has contributed to strengthening the internationalisation of higher education, advancing scientific collaboration, and fostering strategic connections between Brazilian and UK institutions.
As part of this initiative, the British Council commissioned two studies that provide an overview of international collaborations between higher education, research, and innovation institutions in Brazil and the UK, with a particular focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The research examines different forms of collaboration, including institutional agreements, joint research projects, collaborative networks, funding sources, and scientific output.
The first publication, Mapping Brazil-UK Collaboration: An applied framework for categorising institutional-level partnerships, presents the categorisation framework developed to organise and analyse the different types of UK–Brazil collaboration, as well as the data collected and the study's key preliminary findings.

The second publication, Strategic Roadmap Development: International Collaboration and Networdks in Higher Education in Brazil, brings together the partnership mapping, case studies, in-depth analyses, and recommendations for higher education institutions, researchers, funding agencies, and policymakers.
