The world’s largest Black culture festival arrives in Salvador at the beginning of November, bringing performances by major Brazilian artists such as Péricles, BaianaSystem and Liniker, as well as international stars including Tems, from the UK, and Coco Jones.

More than just a festival, Afropunk is a global platform that celebrates Black culture, creativity and resistance. This year marks the movement’s 21st anniversary — a journey marked by the expansion across the world, from the United States to Paris, Johannesburg, London, Atlanta and Salvador.

Beyond music, Afropunk also features art, fashion, debates, film, urban interventions and social initiatives, all aimed at strengthening Black culture. With affordable ticket options, one of the festival’s goals is to bring peripheral communities closer to the event. Another Afropunk tradition is the famous #BLACKCARPET, where the audience celebrates their identity, style and diversity.

This year’s line-up includes artists from a wide range of genres, from established names to new voices in Black music. The full programme is available at this link, where tickets can also be purchased.

Afropunk is supported by Cultura Circular 2025, a British Council program aimed at implementing sustainable practices, connecting British and Brazilian artists through artistic residencies, and providing mentorship to reduce environmental impact and promote cultural exchange.
