Outros Nativos Festival reaches its fifth edition, celebrating independent music and the creative power of the Amazonian peripheries during COP 30. The movement seeks to be a platform for artistic expression, civic education, and the appreciation of cultural diversity found in local neighbourhoods. It is part of British Council’s Circular Culture Programme in 2025.

With the mission of driving genuine social transformation through art, Outros Nativos Festival opens applications for two calls: the Mostra Alternativa Pará, for artists who have been residents of the state of Pará for at least four years; and the Regional Artistic Residency, which selects a single artist from the North Region of Brazil to take part in the festival and its preparatory workshops.

Following a selection process that includes online voting, the grand final of the competitions will take place on 15 and 16 November, during the festival. For the first time, the event moves from community-based programmes held in local squares to a theatre in the city centre.

During the festival week, the public can take part in workshops on traditional dances from Pará at the Gasômetro Theatre. Opening the stage to new artists, the festival embraces a variety of styles, including carimbó, rap, tecnobrega, alternative rock, reggae, pop, trap and funk, reflecting the richness of the contemporary Amazonian cultural mosaic.

Alongside the musicians selected through the open call, the festival also features guest performers such as Gregg Kofi Brown, one of the leading representatives of Afro-American pop music living in England. Other confirmed names include Fartura Flame, MC Believe, Thais Badu, and Blacklist Crew.

The event also offers training workshops in areas such as music production, career management, digital media, copyright, and citizenship, with a focus on young people and local collectives. Going beyond music, the festival promotes a community and creative fair showcasing local entrepreneurs, gastronomy, fashion, crafts, literature, and community services.
