Apresentações de Giselle com Mayara Magri em 28 de fevereiro e em 10 de março

The UK/Brazil Season of Culture highlights the inspiring journey of Brazilian ballerina Mayara Magri, who takes to the stage of the Royal Opera House in London to perform the lead role in Giselle, one of the most iconic works in classical ballet.

Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1994, Mayara began her path at a very young age, when she earned a scholarship to study at Petite Danse, in Tijuca, through a social project. From there, her dedication and talent led her to win international competitions such as the Youth America Grand Prix and the Prix de Lausanne, paving the way for her training at the Royal Ballet School. In 2012, she joined the Company and, after a remarkable rise, was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2021 — becoming the second Brazilian to hold this position at the Royal Ballet.

On 28 February 2026, Mayara makes her debut as Giselle, performing alongside Principal Matthew Ball in the role of Albrecht. This performance marks not only a historic milestone in her career but also a celebration of Brazilian presence in one of the world’s most prestigious dance companies.

Beyond her flawless technique – she is a specialist in challenging movements such as the fouetté – Mayara carries with her a story of faith and perseverance. Before each performance, she follows a personal ritual: a pin attached to her leotard with small saint medals, blessed at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Aparecida. It is a symbol of protection and strength that has accompanied her since the beginning of her journey.

Her story is also that of a humble family who believed in their daughter’s dream and supported her every step of the way. Today, Mayara represents Brazil on international stages, showing that talent, discipline and passion can transform lives and inspire generations.
