The fifth season of Artichoke’s major project, The Gallery is a part of the UK/Brazil Season of Culture.

With COP 30 climate summit taking place for the first time in Brazil this November, sixteen artists from the UK, Brazil and around the world have been selected to respond to the theme: It’s Not Easy Being Green. Selected for their artistic quality, visual impact in public space and ability to generate conversation and public debate, the artworks will be reproduced at scale and displayed for millions to see on public sites traditionally reserved for advertising across the UK and Brazil.

The exhibition hits the streets across the UK and Brazil in October 2025, in partnership with the UK and Brazilian Out-of-Home industry, with artworks exhibited in public space at bus stops, on billboards and digital advertising screens and online. The creations include photography, performance, sculpture, land art, and data visualization, offering multiple perspectives on the climate emergency.

In the UK, the artistic intervention takes place between 7 October and 4 November 2025, in London, Margate, Dorking, Manchester, Edinburgh, Belfast, Inverness, Newcastle, Liverpool, Bristol, Exeter, Bournemouth, Cornwall, and other locations. In Brazil, the exhibition runs from 14 October to 12 November and until 18 November in Belém.

The Brazilian artists Olinda Tupinambá, Uýra Sodoma, Thiago Rocha Pitta, and Vanessa Wagneur are among the exhibitors. The list also includes the British artists Hayden Kays, Hannah Starkey, Yinka Shonibare, Ackroyd & Harvey, and Ed Hawkins.

Other artists featured in the fifth season of The Gallery include The Krank from Greece; Muhammad Amdad Hossain from Bangladesh; Arnolt Smead, a Belgian artist based in the United Kingdom; Justin Brice Guariglia from the United States; Deepak Kathait from India; Chris Jordan, an American artist living in Chile; and Venâncio Evensen Ulombe, an Angolan artist based in Brazil.

Art seen by millions

The Gallery was created by Artichoke in 2022, conceived in collaboration with Creative Director and public artist Martin Firrell, and produced with support from the Out-of-Home industry. Its mission is to challenge traditional models of viewing art through exhibitions in public space that encourage conversation and meaningful debate.

Artists from around the world are invited through direct commissions and an Open Call to respond to the important topics and questions of our time. Since 2022, and over four seasons, The Gallery has brought art to places where people live, work and travel, and been viewed over 200 million times by people across the UK.
