About the event
From 28 September to 2 October, the British Council will host the 2026 edition of ELT Week Brazil, a free nationwide professional development initiative for English language teachers across Brazil.
Organised in partnership with the Ministry of Education, ELT Week brings together Brazilian and international experts to share knowledge, experiences and practical strategies that respond to the challenges and opportunities of English language teaching in basic education.
In 2026, the programme was developed around five key themes that connect the needs of Brazilian teachers with the main contemporary discussions in English Language Teaching (ELT):
- Technology That Empowers: Digital Innovation for Human-Centred ELT
- Real-World ELT: Teaching Through Constraints and Complexity
- English for All: Overcoming Barriers and Creating Learning Opportunities
- Motivation by Design: Engagement, Agency and Wellbeing
- English for Tomorrow: Global Communication, Opportunity and Future Skills
The programme combines international trends, evidence on professional development and practical classroom solutions, with particular attention to the conditions and challenges faced by teachers in basic education and public schools.
