IELTS Academic – get ready for a higher education environment
The IELTS Academic test measures whether you have the level of English language proficiency needed for an academic, higher education environment. It reflects some of the features of academic language and assesses whether you are ready to begin studying or training.
Take this test if you want to:
- study at an either undergraduate or postgraduate level anywhere in the world
- apply for Tier 4 Student Visa at a university that is a Tier 4 Sponsor in the UK
- work in a professional organisation in an English speaking country.

Fee for IELTS Academic: 1.089 BRL for IELTS Academic and 1.210 BRL for IELTS Academic for UKVI.

Duration: 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Format: There are four sections to the test: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. In Brazil, the written part of the exam (Listening, Writing and Reading) starts always at 1pm (local time).
If you choose a IELTS on paper, your Speaking interview will be scheduled directly by us. It may be scheduled on the morning of the test day or up to a week before (working days and hours included). You will receive notification in advance if your Speaking test is on a different day. For candidates who are travelling to take the exam, Speaking interviews are usually scheduled on the morning of the test day or 1-2 days before the written test date.
If you choose a IELTS on computer test, you have a free choice of Speaking test date and time.
With IELTS Online, you can take your test at home or any private location with a stable internet connection.
If you choose this option, you will write the answers to the Listening, Reading and Writing sections on your computer. The Speaking test will be conducted with a trained IELTS Examiner via an online video call.
